The Lost Prophecy
Something Wicked This Way Comes
Just a Quick Hello
30th-Jan-2006 08:25 pm
George stood outside on the stoop and shivered, it was damn cold out. He'd decided after closing up the shoppe early that he'd stop by Katie's and say hello, since he'd not heard from her since his last visit.

"Katie! Open the bloody door, it's freezing out here," he loudly said, pounding his fist on the door. "Come on...I know you're in there...I can see you peaking out the window."

George sighed. What the blazes have I done now?

Katie groaned to herself as she let the curtain fall back. Leaning back against the wall, she listened for several minutes, hoping that he would give up and go away. Realizing that he wasn't going, she cursed lowly to herself as she stalked over to the door. Throwing the door open, she glared up at her lover as she said, "your loud enough to wake the dead, you know that right?"

Turing around, she nodded for him to come in as she headed back into the living room. "So, why are you here?" Katie asked tiredly as she sunk onto the sofa and picked up half of her neglected sandwich and took a bite.

George gave her his best mischievous grin. "Yes, I have been told just that very thing when it comes to making people open doors for me," he chuckled, following her inside and then standing by the blazing fire hoping to get warm.

With hands extended to the flames, George looked over his shoulder. "It's cold enough for snow out there," he commented. "And maybe, maybe I'm just here to say hello and see what you've been about lately," he added.

He watched as she ate and didn't say a word. "Do I have to have an ulterior motive just to stop in? Other than that." He rolled his eyes and turned back to the fireplace.

"Come on Bell, what did I do now that I know nothing about that has set you on end? I mean, you're right snarly tonight."

He knew he shouldn't have said that last remark, but he couldn't stop himself--and she was being snarly.

"Whatever it was I did, I'm sorry."
1st-Feb-2006 11:21 pm (UTC)
Katie paused midbite and just glared at George. "Your here just to see what I've been up to?" she asked in disbelief. Shaking her head, she muttered to herself as she finished eating her sandwich.

Narrowing her eyes at him, she growled as she stood up. I am not snarly, and you've done nothing. Our friendship is how it always has been," Katie exclaimed as she pulled out her wand and waved her now empty plate and glass to the kitchen, as she couldn't help remember they're last conversation where he brought up seeing other people.

"Its been a long day George," she sighed as she rubbed her temple as she stood up and walked past the hall table toward her bedroom.
2nd-Feb-2006 12:10 am (UTC)
George turned about, pondering what Katie had just said. "Well, when you think of it that way...you're right, we do always seem to argue, and you're always snarly, while I'm always most charming," he agreed, nodding his head as she glared at him and left the room.

"Long day, aye?" He made poor conversation as he turned about, intent to follow her to the bedroom but a missive on the entry table caught his attention.

Stopping, being nosy, he discreetly turned the parchment so he could read it better while trying to not look as if he were reading--and hoping to not get caught.

Look forward to our next meeting tomorrow...it's been too long...cheers...yours faithfully, Daniel..

"What the hell? Katie! Who is this...I mean...do you...I was thinking, want to go out to the pub tomorrow night?" George felt this odd feeling in the pit of his stomach and fought to convince himself that it wasn't jealousy but hunger. But wasn't he just trying to encourage her to see others...even if he might have thought it a good idea, didn't mean he liked it...they were only just friends, right?
2nd-Feb-2006 12:23 am (UTC)
"What are you rambling on about George?" Katie asked tiredly as she appeared in the doorway of her bedroom, clad only in her knickers and bra.

"G-Go out tomorrow? I can't, sorry, I have plans. Perhaps we can do something on Friday if you aren't busy," she exclaimed as she pulled the elastic off her pony tail as she turned and went back into the bedroom.
2nd-Feb-2006 02:50 am (UTC)
George was astonished and looked first to the parchment on the table and then back to the bedroom before heading in that direction.

Leaning on the door frame, arms over his chest, the redhead scowled. "What do you mean you've got plans for tomorrow night? You never have plans."

"Doing what?"

He couldn't stop himself, he was startled and a bit upset...more upset than he realized.

"With who?" George questioned, watching as she undressed.

"What do I mean? I mean just what I said, I have plans tomorrow night," Katie snapped at George as she pulled a pair of flannel pajama's out of the wardrobe. "And further more, she exclaimed as she looked over at him, as she turned around and pulled her bra off before slipping the top. "I do go out, sometimes."

Katie arched a brow as she paused and regarded George, her sleep pants in hand. "I'm going to dinner with a mate of mine named Daniel. We were in the academy together. Why do you want to know?" she asked as she quickly changed into her sleep pants.

Walking over to the dressing table, she sat down, picked up a brush and began to brush her hair.

So do you want to go to the pub the day after tomorrow or what?"
3rd-Feb-2006 02:17 am (UTC)
"Daniel, aye..." George mulled, having already known the name from the missive. "So, just how well do you know this Daniel? Were you two...real good mates?"

Even the redhead at to groan at how pitiful he sounded. And why was this irking him so bad?

"Look, fine, we can go to the pub if you want to," he replied a bit shortly, turning to leave. "But Daniel is not invited," he added for good measure.

Why the blazes is this bothering me so much? He's just a mate. He's probably short, bald and annoyingly obnoxious. Or he'd best be.
3rd-Feb-2006 03:02 am (UTC)
"How well do I know him? I told you, we went through the acadmey together. We stuck to each other like glue all the way through." She arched a brow, not realizing what he was thhinking, she said, "Of course we were really good mates. We still are. We probably would have been partners after we graduated if he hadn't have transfered to a different department.

She nodded toward the dresser where several pictures sat. "See the picture in the middle? That was taken on graduation day. Dan is the tall one with dark curly hair."

"All right, we will go to the pub the day after tomorrow and we can come back here for a nightcap if you want."

"Where are you going?" Katie asked as she saw him turn to leave. "Didn't you just get here? Aren't you going to stay for a bit?"
3rd-Feb-2006 06:36 am (UTC)
George stopped and turned about, walking across the bedroom to look at the picture she had been pointing too.

"Bloody hell..." he griped, seeing a ruggedly handsome man standing there with his arm wrapped about Katie's shoulder. "What is he, the whole Quidditch team?"

"Fine, the pub it is...we'll play it by ear on the nightcap," George mumbled, crossing the room and heading back down the hall.

"No, I'm not going to be staying for a bit. I told you, I just stopped in to say hello. Why? Do you expect me to always want to just stop by for a quick shag? Can't I just stop by for conversation and company?"

"Merlin, Kate..." the redhead snapped, heading straight to the front door, spying the missive on the entry table and grunting in dismay. "You go have a grand time out with your wondrously good friend, Daniel, why don't you..."
4th-Feb-2006 03:01 am (UTC)
"What is your problem?" Katie asked as she followed him out of her room and down the hall, the hairbrush still in her hand.

"I don't always expect you to just stop by for a quick shag. I thought - I have a lot of work to get done and thought maybe you could keep me company while I do it," she trailed off as she motioned toward the coffee table where several files lay.

"But if you want to go - then go. And thank you, Daniel and I always have fun when we are out," Katie exclaimed as she turned and walked into the living room toward the sofa.
5th-Feb-2006 06:26 am (UTC)
"What's my problem?" George asked in surprise, stopping at the front door and turning around. "There is no problem. Do you have a problem?" He asked cautiously, wondering if she did and just wasn't telling him.

"See, that was my thought too, just stopping by for a bit and talking, not shagging...honest," he swore, crossing his heart. "I mean, don't get me wrong, I'd shag you any day of the week but...you know what I mean."

George ran his hands across his face and groaned. "I'll stay on two conditions. No talk of this Daniel, Daniel, Daniel with the dreamy eyes and broad shoulders, and you let me help you with whatever it was you needed help in. Agreed?"

For the first time in a long while, George Weasley felt like a second year with his first crush gone pitifully wrong.
6th-Feb-2006 03:06 am (UTC)
“I – I no I don’t have a problem,” she frowned, not wanting to admit that she didn’t like the fact that he had suggested they date other people. “Why do you think I have a problem?”

“Yeah, I know you mean,” Katie admitted with a small smile.

Her brow furrowed in confusion as George listed his conditions. He’s jealous, I can’t believe he’s jealous, she thought to herself “All right, Katie finally said. “They’ll be no talk of Dan and you can help me with my files. Merlin knows I could use a fresh pair of eyes.”

Motioning him to sit down beside her she said, “There has been an increase of attacks lately and I need to go through these files and look for anything that ties them together. Some of these are pretty gruesome, are you sure your up to looking them over?”
8th-Feb-2006 04:14 am (UTC)
George took a deep breath and looked Katie in the eyes. "I'd be glad to help." He agreed, taking off his coat and carelessly tossing that and his scarf to the nearby chair before joining Katie upon the couch.

Rubbing his hands together in anticipation, the redhead grinned. "Gruesome? Woman, I can so do gruesome," he said with glee, then slowly sobered as he realized what he was so gleeful about.

"Trust me, I can well imagine an increase in attacks and everything else..." he mumbled lowly, accepting the file from Katie's hands.

"Fine...tell me where to start then...maybe we should look at mapping out the areas of attack first," he suggested, sifting through the photos. "Maybe there's a pattern."
9th-Feb-2006 02:07 am (UTC)
“Thank you,” Katie smiled as she moved over to make room for him. “I’ve stared at these files for countless hours and I can’t find any connection, or pattern. It’s just getting frustrating, you know? I – I need to find some clue, because we need to break this open and catch them.”

“Imagining them and seeing the aftermath is two entirely different things trust me. I really hope you have a strong stomach,” she sighed as he took the file. “I all ready have the attacks mapped out,” Katie exclaimed as she reached into the pile of papers and files on the table and pulled out a map.

“All the attacks are marked in red. I hope you can make some sense out of it, because I can’t.”

“I was sort of hoping that you could take a look through all of the pictures. Perhaps you can spot something I missed.”
