Struggling under the weight of the mountian of packages, bags and boxes, Neville Longbottom trailed helplessly behind his girlfriend Ginny Weasley as she lead him to yet another of the endless shoppes along the busling wizarding throughfare.

"I had no idea being an Auror trainee paid so well." He mockingly joked. "Are you sure you don't want to leave something in a few shoppes for other people to buy?"

"It doesn't," Ginny, grinned as she paused and looked back at her boyfriend. "I thought I would save my graduation money until I found something worth buying. I guess I just found a lot of something’s," she chuckled as she walked back to him.

Leaning over, she brushed her lips against his as she said, "Thank you for being so sweet and coming shopping with me on your day off. I promise I only have one more Shoppe to go to and then I am finished."

"Maybe after we finish here we can go back to your rooms for dinner and.." she trailed off as she waggled her eyebrows suggestively.

Blushing to the roots of his hair, the shy professor gave Ginny a nervious smile and slight nod of agreement.

"I do need to pop into Slug & Jiggers Apothecary before we go back. They owled that my special shipment of Screechsnaps finally arrived, and I want to make sure I have plenty of time to ready them for the fifth years." Neville said as he followed Ginny into the ink shoppe.

Ginny shrunk her quills and ink and slipped them into her pocket as she walked out of the store. "I think when we are in the Apothecary I'll pick up some of that Rose petal shampoo that they make. I loved the last bottle that you bought me," she smiled at Neville as she slipped her hand in his hand.

Walking around the corner, her eyes widened as she found herself standing face to face with her first love.

"T- T erry," Ginny stammered as she quickly let go of Neville's hand.

Stopping just before mowing over the smaller witch as they met at the corner, Terry's scowl of annoyance melted into genune surprise.

"Ginny? I-" He broke off as his now enhancened vision picked up on the unusual nervious tick of her neck and swiftness in which she released her companion's hand.

"What in the hell is going on here?" He demanded. As Neville, obvious as usual started spouting off about how good is was to see Terry out and about and when did he get released, wasn't that so much better then being stuck in St. Mungo's?

"Yeah you try being under the thumb and rule of Saint Lupin, benolent werewolf. So how about you stop all your stupid platitudes and tell me just what in the hell do you thing you are doing with MY GIRL?"

"What do you mean what's going on? Neville and I are out shopping," Ginny said quickly as she reluctantly met his gaze.

"Terry, please, Remus was kind enough to get you discharged so you didn't have to - have to spend the first full moon locked in a room at St Mungo's. He's a very kind person, just give him a chance, all right?"

"Your girl?" she exclaimed in disbelief, even as a small spark of hope flared at his words. "You told me to stay out of your life remember?"

"Lupins alright I suppose." Terry reluctantly admitted, truthfully it just rankled the man to no end that everyone thought he needed a nursemaid. "Even if he acts more like an old lady then a wizard sometimes... most of the time."

Terry fumed as Ginny yelled at him. "Well it certainly didn't take you long to move on! I knew all you said was just a load of rubbish! Must have come as quite the relief. And I almost believed all those pretty words and skillful tears. Quite the actress isn't she?" Terry spat cruelly to Neville as he mockingly clapped at Ginny's performance.

Neville looked confused as his eyes jumped from the angry and... yes genune look of betrayal on Terry's face to the witch by his side.

"Ginny, what is he talking about? What does he mean by what you said? You told him we were together right?"

Remus takes care of everyone he encounters. Its his nature I think," Ginny mused as her eyes wandered over his frame. He's looking better then the last time I saw him," she thought to herself.

Ginny looked up at Terry, a hurt look in her eyes as she heard his words. "I meant every bloody thing I said. I never gave up, you did! You were the one who told me you didn't even want me in your life. I tried several times to see you and it was always the same. Just what did you expect me to do? Did you expect me to stay around? I have do have some self respect left, you know," she snapped.

She let out a shuddering sigh, as her shoulders slumped. "I wanted to try to stay in his life, to be there for him in someway. But he told me to get out of his life and I did. Thats what I said.

"Oh so plant-boy here is just a new development and you haven't been warming his bed the whole time I was out of it?" Terry shouted, enraged at himself for just how close he had been to going to Ginny - longing to believe her words.

"Well so just how long have you been shacked up with the amazing wonder?" The angry man demanded to know.

Ginny's eyes momentarily widened in shock at Terry's words, before narrowing in anger. Taking a step forward she raised her hand and slapped him across the face. "When you were first bit, I stayed by your beside night and day for weeks. Right until your parents transferred you to St Mungo's. Even then, I was there. Every bloody Sunday, week after week. Except for when you, she trailed off as she remembered the arguments she had had with the healers and her parents to be allowed to stay."

"Do you have any idea how many hours I spent pouring through texts, some in languages I never knew existed? I never gave up on you. Even when the healers, medi-witches, your parents... I never gave up. And you know why? It was because I loved you," she said in an angry whisper.

She shook her head as she clenched her jaw. "I am not shacked up with anyone. I live in the barracks at the Auror Acadmey. As for my relationship with Neville, we are recent. And since you ordered me out of your life, thats the only answer you get."

Dismissing Boot's raving as the product of an unsable mind, Neville didn't believe a word of what Terry was insinuating Ginny had promised him in the hospital.

"Do not talk about Ginny like that!" He defended his lover. "Ginny was never unfaithful to you, and worried herself near to death for you the entire time. But what did you expect her to do? Just sit and wait forever? No one ever knew if you would ever wake up again, Ginny deserved to live her life too."
15th-Feb-2006 12:11 am (UTC)
Ginny's shoulders slumped as she felt the anger drain from her. Startled by Neville's staunch defense of her, she shot him a slight smile as her eyes welled up with tears.

"Thank you -" she whispered as she reached for his hand and clutched it tightly.

She shook her head sadly as she regarded Terry. "I was prepared to wait for you forever. But, I came to realize that I needed to live me life. And you made your wishes perfectly clear in the hospital Terry.

Ginny looked sideways at Neville as she said, "Neville makes me happy. Something I never thought I would be again, after you were bitten."

"I don't know what else to say," she said softly, not understanding why Terry was acting like he still cared for her.
